This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for processing personal data of users of the MotoPilot service available at motopilot.org, including the MotoPilot web application/PWA and features related to the user profile, motorcycle garage, routes, navigation, rides, Moto Trips, group riding, voice communication, weather, road alerts, and social features.

This Privacy Policy is informational in nature and describes what data may be processed in connection with the use of MotoPilot, for what purposes, on what legal bases, and what rights users have.
- Basic principles of data processing
The Controller processes personal data in accordance with applicable law, in particular the GDPR.
Data is processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently for the user. The Controller collects data only to the extent necessary for the operation of the service, the provision of services, ensuring security, the implementation of application features, and handling contact with the user.
Some MotoPilot features, in particular navigation, ride recording, live group riding, road alerts, route weather, voice communication, and push notifications, require access to certain data or device permissions. The user may manage some of these permissions in the settings of the browser, operating system, or PWA application.
- Scope of processed data
Depending on how MotoPilot is used, the Controller may process the following categories of data.
3.1. User account data
MotoPilot may process data provided during registration, login, and account use, in particular:
username or nickname,
e-mail address,
password in a technically secured form,
avatar,
profile description,
information voluntarily added by the user,
account settings and user preferences,
information about friends, followed users, invitations, and social relationships.
3.2. Profile and social data
As part of MotoPilot’s social features, the following may be processed:
posts published on the Wall,
comments,
photos and other media added by the user,
reactions, activities, and information about interactions with other users,
information about shared routes, places, or rides,
profile visibility settings, including visibility in the friend search function.
Some data may be visible to other users of the service, depending on the feature, publication context, and privacy settings.
3.3. Motorcycle and garage data
In the Garage module, MotoPilot may process data concerning the user’s motorcycles, in particular:
brand, model, year, and other motorcycle parameters,
motorcycle photos,
mileage,
service history,
information about inspections, third-party liability insurance, services, and reminders,
other operating data added by the user.
This data is used to maintain the virtual garage, reminders, and features related to motorcycle operation.
3.4. GPS location data
MotoPilot may process the user’s location data, including:
current GPS location,
route points,
start, end, and intermediate point locations,
saved places of the user,
friends’ places visible in the Planner,
location during ride recording,
the course of a saved route or ride,
location of road alert reports,
location shared in live group riding mode.
Location data is processed only when the user uses features requiring location or has granted the appropriate permission on the device or in the browser.
Disabling access to location may prevent or limit the operation of some MotoPilot features, in particular navigation, ride recording, group riding, weather for location, and road alerts.
3.5. Route, ride, and saved place data
MotoPilot may process data related to planning, saving, and replaying routes, including:
route course,
route points and waypoints,
route name and description,
route thumbnail or photo,
imported GPX files,
ride statistics,
time, distance, speed, average speed, and other ride parameters,
data needed to resume an active navigation session,
private and shared saved places.
This data is processed for the operation of the Planner, Navigation, My Routes, Rides, and related MotoPilot features.
3.6. Moto Trips data
As part of the Moto Trips feature, MotoPilot may process:
information about created trips,
trip name, description, date, and time,
route assigned to the trip,
list of participants, invitations, and requests,
participation status,
trip status, for example planned, active, finished, or cancelled,
information about the organizer,
trip visibility, for example public or private,
weather data for route points,
data needed for the operation of group riding mode.
Public Moto Trips may be visible to other users in accordance with the feature settings.
3.7. Live group riding and location sharing
MotoPilot enables live group riding as part of an active Moto Trip.
After enabling this feature, MotoPilot may process and share with other accepted participants of the given trip:
the user’s current GPS position,
online status or information about the last position update,
nickname or username,
distance from other participants,
supporting information needed to display participants on the map.
The user’s position in group riding mode is used to show participants on the map, follow the ride leader, warn when a participant falls behind the group, and support group communication features.
Visibility of the user’s position in group riding mode is limited to participants of the active Moto Trip in which the user participates, unless a given feature is clearly marked as public in the future.
3.8. PTT / VOX voice communication
MotoPilot may enable short voice communication in group riding mode, in particular through PTT, VOX, or similar mechanisms.
For this purpose, MotoPilot may process:
access to the device microphone,
short voice recordings of the user,
microphone settings,
VOX sensitivity settings,
technical information needed to send and play voice messages,
data about the creation time and expiry time of a voice message.
PTT voice messages are intended for participants of an active Moto Trip and may be played automatically for other participants if they use active group mode.
Voice messages are stored temporarily. The default storage time for voice messages is 30 minutes, unless the Controller changes this technical parameter. The Controller may also manually delete stored voice messages in order to maintain system operation, conduct tests, or ensure security.
3.9. Voice activation of road alerts
In regular navigation mode, MotoPilot may allow users to report road alerts using simple voice commands.
For this purpose, the application may use:
the device microphone,
local VOX sensitivity settings,
short command listening after VOX activation,
speech recognition mechanisms available in the user’s browser or system.
Voice commands may include simple words such as “control,” “police,” “attention,” or “danger.” A recognized command may result in the creation of a road alert at the user’s current location.
This feature requires consent to access the microphone and may work differently depending on the device, browser, operating system, and user settings.
3.10. Road alerts
MotoPilot allows users to report road alerts, including:
road checks,
speed checks,
road hazards,
other road events, if added in the future.
In connection with reports, MotoPilot may process:
report type,
GPS location of the report,
time of report,
validity period of the report,
identifier of the reporting user or source of the report,
information about refreshing an existing alert.
If there is already an active report of the same type within a technically defined radius, for example 500 meters, another report may not create a new marker, but may refresh the validity period of the existing alert.
Road alerts may be visible to other users using the navigation or map features. As a rule, the road alert feature is intended to provide information about the location of an event, not to publicly display the data of the reporting user.
3.11. Weather data
MotoPilot may use weather features, including hourly forecasts, multi-day forecasts, and weather suggestions when planning Moto Trips.
In order to retrieve weather forecasts, MotoPilot may process:
the user’s location,
route points,
the start, middle, and end point of the route,
date and time of the planned trip,
weather search radius or area,
technical query data.
This data may be transferred to external weather data providers to the extent necessary to retrieve the forecast.
3.12. Technical data
MotoPilot may automatically process technical data related to the use of the service, in particular:
IP address,
date and time of connection,
session identifiers,
browser information,
operating system information,
device type,
approximate technical data of the screen and application operation,
error logs,
security data,
information about the use of service features.
Technical data is used to ensure the proper operation of the service, security, error diagnostics, protection against abuse, and improvement of MotoPilot’s quality of operation.
3.13. Cookies, localStorage, and similar technologies
MotoPilot may use cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, and similar browser technologies.
These technologies may be used to:
maintain the login session,
remember user settings,
remember Planner, Navigation, and other module preferences,
remember microphone, VOX, sensitivity, and interface preferences,
remember the PWA state,
ensure security,
analyze the operation of the service,
improve the convenience of using the application.
The user may manage cookies and local data in the settings of their browser or device. Limiting cookies or local storage may cause some MotoPilot features to work incorrectly.
3.14. Device data and permissions
Some MotoPilot features require access to certain device or browser permissions, in particular:
GPS location,
microphone,
camera or photo gallery,
push notifications,
browser local storage,
screen wake lock features, for example Wake Lock.
These permissions are used only to the extent necessary for the operation of a given feature. The user may revoke or change permissions in the settings of the browser, operating system, or PWA application.
- Purposes of data processing
Users’ personal data is processed for the following purposes:
creating and managing a user account,
logging in and authenticating the user,
maintaining the user profile,
operating social features, including the Wall, comments, friends, followers, and invitations,
operating the Garage module and motorcycle data,
planning, saving, importing, and sharing routes,
operating navigation,
recording and saving rides,
operating Moto Trips,
operating live group riding and participant tracking,
handling PTT / VOX voice communication,
handling voice reporting of road alerts,
handling manual reporting of road alerts,
presenting road alerts to other users,
retrieving and presenting weather forecasts,
sending push notifications,
remembering user preferences,
handling contact with the Controller,
ensuring service security,
diagnosing errors and improving application operation,
defending against claims and pursuing claims,
fulfilling obligations resulting from legal provisions.
- Legal bases for data processing
Personal data is processed on the following legal bases:
Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — where processing is necessary for the provision of electronic services, maintaining the account, supporting MotoPilot features, and performing the agreement with the user;
Article 6(1)(a) GDPR — where the user has given consent, for example to access location, microphone, camera, push notifications, or other voluntary features requiring consent;
Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — where processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller, such as ensuring security, protecting against abuse, diagnosing errors, developing the service, handling claims, and maintaining the proper operation of MotoPilot;
Article 6(1)(c) GDPR — where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which the Controller is subject.
Where data is processed on the basis of consent, the user may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.
- Visibility of data to other users
MotoPilot includes social features and shared riding features. Therefore, some data may be visible to other users.
Depending on the feature and settings, the following may be visible, among others:
user nickname,
avatar,
profile description,
public posts,
comments,
public Moto Trips,
shared routes,
shared places,
information about participation in a trip,
GPS position during active group riding,
road alerts added by the user.
The user should carefully consider publishing content, photos, locations, and information that may reveal private places, habits, movement routes, data of other people, license plates, or other sensitive information.
- Data recipients
Data may be transferred to entities that support the operation of MotoPilot, only to the extent necessary to achieve specific purposes.
Recipients of data may include:
hosting providers,
IT service providers,
service maintenance and security providers,
map service, map tile, routing, or geocoding providers,
weather service providers,
push notification service providers,
analytics service providers, if used,
payment or donation operators, if the user uses such features,
other MotoPilot users — to the extent resulting from social features, Moto Trips, group riding, sharing routes, places, or road alerts,
public authorities or authorized entities, if the obligation to disclose data results from legal provisions.
Data is not sold to third parties.
- Map, routing, and external services
MotoPilot may use external map, routing, weather, and technical services, including solutions used to display maps, plan routes, calculate route courses, present weather data, or open a route in an external application.
In connection with the use of such features, technical data or route point data may be transferred to external providers, such as:
coordinates of route points,
start and destination locations,
intermediate points,
approximate user location,
technical query data,
IP address.
External providers may process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and terms of service.
- Push notifications and PWA
MotoPilot may operate as a PWA application and use push notifications.
If the user consents to notifications, MotoPilot may process technical data needed to send notifications, including a token or identifier of the device/browser.
Notifications may concern, among other things:
social activities,
friend invitations,
Moto Trips invitations,
active trips,
motorcycle-related reminders,
system messages,
other MotoPilot features.
The user may disable notifications in the settings of the browser, device, or PWA application.
- Photos, media, and user content
The user may add photos, videos, descriptions, comments, and other content to MotoPilot.
This applies in particular to:
avatar,
motorcycle photos,
place photos,
route thumbnails,
photos and content published on the Wall,
photos related to routes, rides, or Moto Trips.
The user should add only content to which they have appropriate rights and avoid publishing personal data of other people without an appropriate legal basis, in particular image, license plates, addresses, private locations, or information enabling the identification of other people.
- Data retention period
Data is stored for the period necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected, and then for the period required by law or needed to secure claims.
In particular:
account and profile data is stored for the period during which the user has an account;
Garage, motorcycle, route, place, and ride data is stored until it is deleted by the user, the account is deleted, or the given feature is terminated;
posts, comments, and social content are stored until they are deleted by the user, the account is deleted, or they are deleted by the Controller in accordance with the service rules;
active navigation sessions and technical data needed to resume navigation are stored for the period necessary for the operation of the feature and session handling;
PTT voice messages are stored temporarily, by default for 30 minutes, unless the Controller changes this technical parameter or deletes them earlier;
road alerts are stored for their technical validity period, depending on the report type, and then may be deleted or expire automatically;
data related to push notifications is stored until notifications are disabled, the token is deleted, the account is deleted, or the technical data expires;
technical logs and security data are stored for the period needed to ensure security, diagnostics, and protection against abuse;
data needed to establish, pursue, or defend claims may be stored for the limitation period of claims;
data required by law is stored for the period resulting from those legal provisions.
Data may remain for a limited time in backup copies before being overwritten or deleted in accordance with the backup cycle.
- Account deletion
The user may request account deletion.
Deleting the account results in the deletion or anonymization of personal data associated with the account, except for data that the Controller must or may continue to store on the basis of legal provisions, legitimate interest, service security, defense against claims, or technical limitations of backup copies.
Deleting the account may not result in the immediate deletion of all content visible in the service if its further storage is necessary to maintain the consistency of discussions, security, accountability of actions, handling reports, pursuing claims, or if it results from feature settings. In such a case, the data may be anonymized.
- User rights
The user has the right to:
access their data,
receive a copy of the data,
rectify the data,
delete the data,
restrict processing,
data portability,
object to data processing,
withdraw consent at any time, if processing is based on consent,
lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The Controller may request additional information needed to confirm the identity of the person submitting the request, if necessary for data security.
- Voluntary provision of data
Providing data is voluntary, but some data is necessary to use certain MotoPilot features.
Failure to provide data or failure to consent to certain permissions may prevent the use of selected features, in particular:
creating an account,
logging in,
using navigation,
recording a ride,
using GPS location,
live group riding,
PTT / VOX voice communication,
voice reporting of alerts,
adding photos,
receiving push notifications.
- Automated decision-making and profiling
User data is not used to make decisions that produce legal effects concerning the user or similarly significantly affect them in a solely automated manner.
MotoPilot may automatically process technical and location data for the operation of application features, for example route calculation, presentation of alerts, detecting distance from the group, refreshing the position on the map, remembering settings, or displaying tailored weather information. Such processing serves the technical operation of the service features.
- Data security
The Controller applies appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, in particular:
SSL/TLS connection encryption,
access control to the system,
user account security measures,
limiting access to data only to persons or systems that need it,
backups,
mechanisms protecting against abuse,
ongoing updating and development of service security.
The user should also take care of the security of their account, in particular by using a strong password, not sharing login details with others, and securing their device.
- Children’s data
MotoPilot is intended for persons who may independently use online services in accordance with applicable law.
If the service is used by a minor, they should do so with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, if such consent is required by law.
- Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area
In connection with the use of external technical, map, weather, analytics, push notification, or other services, data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area if the given provider provides services using infrastructure located outside the EEA.
In such a case, data transfer takes place using mechanisms provided for by law, in particular standard contractual clauses or other appropriate safeguards, if required.
- External links
MotoPilot may contain links to external websites, applications, or services, for example maps, weather services, social media profiles, payment operators, or contact tools.
The Controller is not responsible for the privacy practices applied by external entities. Before using an external service, the user should read its terms of service and privacy policy.
- Changes to the Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy may be updated, in particular in the event of:
development of MotoPilot,
adding new features,
changes in the scope of processed data,
changes of external providers,
changes in legal provisions,
the need to clarify privacy rules.
Users may be informed of significant changes through the service, the application, a system message, or an e-mail, if justified by the nature of the changes.
